Shrewsbury Abbey
an outbuilding |
almshouses |
original flooring |
Founded as a Benedictine monastery in the 1000s, it lived for centuries as a major abbey and pilgrimmage site. In the 16th century, it was partially dismantled to control the wealth of the monks leaving just the nave with all this lovely stuff!
