I have a few confessions:

I've begun to leave my camera at home.

My computer is still out of commission.

I've failed to take pictures everyday.

Schoolwork basically rules my life right now.
(I should be finishing up a paper right now)

I've only just updated the month of February.
The month of March will not be finished.

Resolutions:
Take my camera with me everyday again!
Take pictures!

Update this more on time.

Shu Kubo

Kirie is the Japanese art of paper cutting.

The process of Kirie art is as follows. First, the original skeleton picture is drawn on blank sheet of paper. Using a knife, the artist cuts the blank spaces out to create only outlines. Pieces of colored paper and then cut out and attached to the back to fill in the outlines. This creates an often colorful, delicate piece of art.

On Saturday, 3/20 the Rainy Day Studio was fortunate enough to host Shu Kubo. Shu Kubo is a Japanese kirie artist who is in the US at the behest of the Japanese embassy to promote Japanese culture. He gave us a talk, demonstrated how to do kirie and then let us try our hand at it!

Art Club made this tradition of outgoing seniors creating murals. Mine is that of the mountains and this is Anna's which is a self-portrait.

Lancaster

I wonder if they still sell those phonographs

Being in Lancaster County, of course we went to Lancaster's Central Markets. The city itself seems like a charming one that would be nice to live in.

Motel

We took a rather spontaneous trip out to Amish Country and got a kick out of our barn-style motel that was actually rather sweet and welcoming

Bryn Athyn: Historical District

The cathedral was not alone. It was surrounded by stately mansions, one of which funded the building of the cathedral

Bryn Athyn Cathedral: Interiors

lovely carving was present!

In the upper altar, side windows of blue stained glass with small bits of red created this lovely bluish purple glow that looked otherworldly...funny to think that occurred because they didn't get the glass design on time!

Though the walls themselves were relatively undecorated, the windows were very nice and well done.

Bryn Athyn Cathedral: Exteriors

The metal of this door is a special alloy that doesn't weather...

A day trip/picnic to Bryn Athyn. I had heard a lot about this cathedral and how nice it was despite being a new world cathedral
