The Pynx and the Deme of Melite

I have to admit, I had no idea where I was...all I knew was that it felt like an archaeological site and...there's a pointless gate

I don't think I had realized quite the beautiful view of the akropolis the Pynx had

I am enamoured of drains. This one is rock cut like most of the deme of melite

I am indeed, still in Athens

stairs to the top of a hill where I spotted a pottery sherd...that's right, a grubby unpainted sherd that I of course left there

Akropolis-Parthenon

the friezes to be put into place

hey look, it's big!

aw, it's a little broken.

strong Doric capitals. strong fluting. strong sun. Part of the inner freizes

a corner with its triglyphs, metopes, dentils, acroterion, and the stuff on the underside whose name I've forgotten

outer colonade, inner sanctum

even though I've memorized the dimensions of this temple and seen maybe thousands of slides and pictures, I was still taken aback by its size

oh man, look at the sculpture fitting in with the architectural pediment

the most photographed thing in the city with the hottest sun beating down.
