Philadelphia Mummer's Parade

The Philadelphia New Years Mummers Parade is a true Philadelphia tradition. Originally a British thing, they no longer do this kind of thing in the UK. Philadelphia however, has kept it alive with some people who march along with their great grandkids. It is unapologetically full of sequins, drag, and over-the-top excess and you'd never otherwise suspect how many banjos are in the city area of Philadelphia.

Drexel

I love the amount of detail that put into this building!

Making an already cool and incongruous door even more interesting.

Back to my old tricks of taking pictures of churches! Despite my personal views and history with the Catholicism I was raised in, I just love the detail poured into places of worship.

Garden

Yes those are roses reaching 2 stories

I was fortunate to stay with a dancing teacher of mine who is very serious about gardening. They have crafted a beautiful calm idyll in their yard.

The original intention had been a simple photo shoot to record all the skirts I've made...that quickly changed

Happy May Day! (Rittenhouse Square)

My college does its own May Day celebration complete with Morris, parades, Class May Poles, Senior Hoop Race, May Hole, and Scottish Country Dance Demo. I did all of the above and so have absolutely no pictures from my final May Day at Bryn Mawr, instead I danced my heart out, sprinted more than I thought capable, and successfully rolled a hoop all the way down senior row 5 minutes after learning how to do so.

So instead of BMC May Day, Nutting Girl in the middle of Rittenhouse Square

HIGHER!

As is rather typical of Renegades, only one person is doing the textbook caper.

Is the sun up yet? No? Let's dance!

I still am not quite clear why waking at 4.45am to dance in the middle of Fairmount Park is the highlight of Morris life but it is.

Kingsessing Men

Renegades! (obviously not my picture)

obviously I didn't take this group picture of the Renegades

And then, the Renegades do breakfast!
